The uncertainty of the development of the rapidly changing business ecosystem demands a redefinition of the accounting profession in order to contribute positively to society. The accountant profession is a profession related to financial management and company financial statements. Accountants are responsible for recording, managing, and examining the company’s financial statements with the aim of providing accurate and transparent information to interested parties, such as investors, creditors, or parties related to the company. In today’s digital era, the development of information and communication technology greatly affects the role and duties of accountants. The Bachelor of Accounting Program of Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR Accounting Study Program) as one of the educational institutions that produces accountants must adjust related to the changes that occur. This is intended to ensure that the accountants produced really have the skills needed in the digital economy era and can cope with various changes that occur in the future. The new literacy needed includes data literacy, technological literacy, and human literacy. The field of work that is often not in line with the specificity of learning carried out while studying requires the UNPAR Accounting Study Program to be able to develop the ability of its graduates to be able to master various fields of accounting science.
Curriculum review and improvement are carried out by the UNPAR Accounting Study Program to ensure that graduates have these abilities. In accordance with the university’s direction related to the preparation of the 2023 Curriculum and to meet all existing needs, the UNPAR Accounting Study Program held a Focus Group Discussion by presenting resource persons consisting of: representatives of the business world, professional organizations, alumni, the curriculum team of the Ministry of Education and Culture and Technology, graduate users, alumni, practitioners, and other universities (benchmark ). Resource persons both from within the country and abroad were specially invited in order to obtain important information about the current and future accounting profession, as well as collect input from various stakeholders regarding the UNPAR Accounting Study Program Curriculum.
The Focus Group Discussion event will be held for 3 days, namely March 7, 8, and 10, 2023. The resource person on the first day, Wednesday, March 7, 2023, the first session was Mr. Agung Nugroho Soedibyo, CPMA. (Vice Chairman for Certification of the Indonesian Institute of Management Accountants), Mr. Dr. Ir. Syamsul Arifin, MT (Belmawa Higher Education College Curriculum Team – Kemendikbudristek RI), Mrs. Dr. Dyah Setyaningrum, SE., MSM., CA., CPMA (Head of Dean Office, Strategic Planning, Evaluation, and Monitoring – International Ranking (DOSPEM – IR) Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia), Mrs. Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia, SE., M.Si., Ak, CMA., CA (Chairman of IAI KAPd – Indonesian Institute of Accountants Educator Accountant Compartment and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga), Mr. Aji Paramartha (Head of People KPMG Indonesia), Mr. Angga Pujaprayoga (Director KPMG Indonesia – Alumni), Mr. Jalal (Supervisory Board Member Institute for Certified Sustainability Practitioners), and Mr. Adrianto Nursalim (Head of Internal Audit DBS Bank).
Then continued with the second session which was attended by speakers consisting of Ibu Suci Kurnia (Business Development Executive ICAEW Indonesia), Mr. I Komala Widjaja (Assurance Services Partner EY Indonesia), Mr. Ronald Tanuraharja (Senior Cyber Security Advisor/Architect – University of Melbourne), Mr. Willy D. Kusnanto, ST., MM., MAPPI (Cert.) Management of the Appraisal Certification Examination Committee (KUSP) – Indonesian Appraisal Professional Society, Mrs. Anita Salim (Senior Manager HRD – PT Djarum Indonesia, Tbk), Mr. Dwi Putra Widiyanto (Country Manager CIMA Indonesia), Mrs. Mulky Belladina (Business Development Specialist – Management Accounting CIMA Indonesia), Mrs. Michele Natalie (Internal Audit Executive – PT Nutrifood Indonesia), and Mr. Christian Fernando Kevin (Corporate Planning Analyst – PT Astra International Tbk).
The resource person on the second day, Thursday, March 8, 2023, namely Mr. Hans Kristianto, ST., MT (Head of the UNPAR Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Study Program) shared the implementation of OBE (Outcome Based Education) in the UNPAR Chemical Engineering Study Program. Based on the deepening of the material that has been obtained, various action plans have been prepared by the Curriculum Team to ensure that Graduate Achievement can be measured as a guarantee of the quality of education delivery in the UNPAR Accounting Study Program.
On the third day, March 10, 2023, UNPAR Accounting Study Program invited speakers, namely Mr. William (Partner of Deloitte Indonesia), Mrs. Julia Simatupang (Country Manager – Chief Representative – Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Indonesia), Mrs. Irene Raflesia (Department Head of Recruitment &; Employer Branding – PT Astra International Tbk), and Detania Hananti Putri (Recruitment Analyst – PT Astra International Tbk).
With the holding of the Focus Group Discussion, it is hoped that the 2023 Accounting Study Program Curriculum can be well structured based on input from various stakeholders, based on OBE and International Accreditation so as to be able to produce graduates who are competent and have character to work in the field of Accounting both in the national and global arena.
