Business and economic conditions that are growing very rapidly have resulted in increasingly intense competition among business people to achieve success. There are many factors that play a role in achieving this success. Of all these factors, the quality of human resources, or what is now often referred to as human capital, is the key to organizations’ success. Talking about the quality of human capital in this day and age, more and more organizations are not only looking for workers who excel in terms of technical competencies inherent or required in certain professions (hard skills), but also non-technical competencies (soft skills) that concern personal character regarding emotional intelligence, personality traits, and social skills of a person in dealing with others. A harmonious combination of hard skills and soft skills is needed in order to create a human being who is good academically and also non-academically.
The Accounting Study Program of the UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics always strives to produce excellent graduates who can make a real contribution to the progress of the Indonesian nation. To realize this, students need a combination of academic and character competencies in learning and working.
As a form of effort to continue the competency improvement of graduates, the Accounting Study Program realizes that the formation and development of soft skills for students is something that is not easy and requires a continuous process, so it must be started as early as possible, starting from the beginning of being accepted as an accounting student at UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics.
In an effort to achieve this goal, the Accounting Study Program of UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics held the Accounting Rapprochement and Education Experience (ARCADE) 3 2021 activity on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 15.00 to 18.30 WIB, online through the Zoom Meeting platform. The ARCADE-3 2021 activity is divided into two sessions. The material in the first session was delivered by Johny Liem as a representative from Axel. This session helped students determine what to do after getting a bachelor’s degree. The choice consists of continuing education to the next level or looking for experience in the world of work and how to make a curriculum vitae (CV). At the end of the first session, the speaker selected the three best questions to be awarded prizes.
The second session was delivered by Ms. Lisa. In this session, the nature of students was explained based on the perspective given by the speaker. Other materials presented were things that should be prepared for the interview. At the end of the event, a question-and-answer session was held. Students were enthusiastic to ask questions about preparing to enter the world of work. From all the questions, the six best questions were selected to win prizes. The total number of participants who participated in ARCADE-3 2021 was 165 accounting students from the 2018 batch at UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics.
