
Parahyangan Catholic University’s Accounting Study Program won a Competition Grant (Hibah Kompetisi) in the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Merdeka Campus Competition Program in 2021. With regard to the achievement of this competition grant, Parahyangan Catholic University’s Accounting Study Program organized a series of activities, one of which was the debriefing and mentoring of the Accounting Competition Team by inviting accounting alumni and practitioners to deliver the materials for around 35 students of the Accounting Competition Team selected from the classes of 2018 and 2019.
The students gained a variety of knowledge experiences with current topics relevant to the competition and the future of the competition team in the workplace. On Thursday, August 12, 2021, an online briefing was held by inviting an alumnus of the Accounting Class of 2008, namely Mr. Febrianto Gamal, SE., MM. He was a Corporate Strategy Analyst at PT Central Proteina Prima, TBK, from 2014–2016, a Valuation & Business Modeling Senior at Ernst & Young Indonesia from 2016–2017, and his final position was as Co-Founder, COO at PT Eden Pangan Indonesia. In addition, Mr. Febrianto Gamal studied at Prasetiya Mulya Business School from 2013–2014.
On this occasion, he presented the development of How to Lead a Company by Data Driven, which was very interesting to provide knowledge for the Accounting competition team of the Faculty of Economics, Parahyangan Catholic University. The session opened with introductions. After that, Mr. Febri explained the material about the importance of data used in companies to make decisions. There are two types of data used by companies: qualitative and quantitative data. Based on his explanation, the data can be used by companies for several purposes, such as decision-making, improving business processes, getting new customers, maintaining customers, and increasing revenue and profits for the company.
The next material presentation is about the supply chain that occurs at Eden Farm. From each movement in the supply chain, there is data that is used for various information systems owned by the company. The implementation of a good system in the company can increase efficiency and effectiveness in data management and can improve problem solving and decision-making in the company. Furthermore, he explained about data analysis. Data analysis is the processing of raw data to improve decision-making. Data analysis can reveal trends, patterns, and important insights. Data analysis consists of four types: descriptive data, diagnostic data, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics. In conducting data analysis, he explained the need for metrics and analysis to measure whether a company is good or not. The presentation of material on data analysis was continued through a case study, and then this activity was closed with a question-and-answer session. Mr. Febri also gave input to students on how to improve their soft skills and knowledge in order to compete in the world of work.
