Culture’s Merdeka Campus Competition Program in 2021. With regard to the achievement of this competition grant, Parahyangan Catholic University’s Accounting Study Program organized a series of activities, one of which was the debriefing and mentoring of the Accounting Competition Team by inviting accounting alumni and practitioners to deliver the materials for around 35 students of the Accounting Competition Team selected from the classes of 2018 and 2019.
The students gained a variety of knowledge experiences with current topics relevant to the competition and the future of the competition team in the workplace. On Thursday, August 12, 2021, an online briefing was held by inviting Accounting alumni from the class of 2013, namely Mr. Agung Indra Mulya, SE. He started his career at Ningbo Supreme, moved to STOQO, and is now at WeBuy Indonesia in the position of Country Head. On this occasion, he presented the theme “Working at Start-Up,” which was very interesting and provided knowledge for the Accounting competition team of the Faculty of Economics, Parahyangan Catholic University. WeBuy is a social e-commerce application that combines social media with shopping applications (e-commerce). For example, in TikTok, besides uploading videos, users can also directly click to buy something so that it becomes more fun for them. In small companies, the valuation of the company is done in the traditional way, which is based on revenue, gross margin, net profit, the number of contracts owned by the company, and the number of products made by the company. It is different with start-ups. Start-up valuation is more focused on potential value. Startups have to create a system before the business can run, which requires a lot of money. In addition, start-ups can be used by millions of users without the need to increase investment, such as by adding branch offices or hiring new staff.
Furthermore, Mr. Agung conveyed tips on how to get a job in the current situation, tips for making a resume, tips for conducting interviews, and ways to add knowledge and soft skills that will be useful in the future. In addition, attending courses and/or seminars will increase social networking. This activity was closed with a question-and-answer session and the delivery of messages from speakers for participants and all UNPAR Accounting students to continue to strive, be ambitious, not easily discouraged, and develop soft skills and hard skills as Accounting students.
