Debriefing and Assistance for the Accounting Competition Team Regarding the Independent Campus Competition Program—Session 3

Parahyangan Catholic University’s Accounting Study Program won a Competition Grant (Hibah Kompetisi) in the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Kampus Merdeka Competition Program in 2021. With regard to the achievement of this competition grant, Parahyangan Catholic University’s Accounting Study Program organized a series of activities, one of which was the debriefing and mentoring of the Accounting Competition Team by inviting accounting alumni and practitioners to deliver the materials for around 35 students of the Accounting Competition Team selected from the classes of 2018 and 2019.

The students gained a variety of knowledge experiences with current topics relevant to the competition and the future of the competition team in the workplace. On Saturday, July 31, 2021, an online briefing was held by inviting an alumni of the Accounting Study Program, Faculty of Economics, Parahyangan Catholic University class of 2016, namely Ms. Caroline Gita Chandra. After graduating from UNPAR, she worked as an intern at PricewaterhouseCoopers Indonesia, then continued to work as an associate auditor at Ernst & Young Indonesia. Currently, she is back working at PricewaterhouseCoopers Indonesia as an Assurance Associate.

On this occasion, she presented the Audit theme during the Work From Home (WFH) period, which was very interesting knowledge for the Accounting competition team of the Faculty of Economics, Parahyangan Catholic University. The session opened with an explanation of the new way of auditing due to the WFH (Work From Home) policy. Ms. Caroline also shared the “Do’s and Don’ts of WFH” video, which provides tips on what to do and not do when working from home (WFH). The points that must be done when someone’s doing their WFH are waking up early to work, dressing decently like working offline, being productive, working with passion, and working with focus. While the points that should not be done are waking up too “on time”, not doing preparations such as showering and dressing up, and being unproductive. In addition to theoretical tips, Ms. Caroline also provided more practical Pro Tips during WFH, which were summarized into 4Cs. They are Comfortable working spaces, Check your limits, Choose your self-branding, and Chase your answer.

As a closing statement, Ms. Caroline gave the quote, “Trust the process.” The point is that even though there is a pandemic that requires work to be done from home, it does not make auditors “less qualified”, but auditors on the “WFH path” can produce different outputs from previous auditors.
